Birth doula services

You deserve to feel confident, calm & empowered in birth.

The answers you want and the emotional support you need during the most transformative experience of your life.

Supporting you through all stages of birth

    • 3 prenatal meetings tailored to your specific needs. We will set the stage for your big day and I will provide you with all sorts of yummy things:

      • Information on the physiology of birth and how to care for your newborn (including tips on all types of feeding).

      • Emotional support for any fears or anxieties you may be struggling with.

      • Physical support for any discomforts you might be feeling (option of including a short yoga session to work on breathing and opening the body to prepare for birth).

    • Text, email and phone support from the moment you hire me, up to 2 weeks pospartum.

    • On call support as of 37 weeks of pregnancy (yes, I keep my phone on at night!).

  • I will be fully present for you and your partner throughout your birth. With the connection we will have developed during our prenatal meetings you will feel completely at ease with me in your birth bubble. Below are just some of the things you can expect from me during labour up until 2 hours after your baby is born.

    • Information: even with prenatal education, medical jargon can be confusing (especially in the heat of the moment!). I will be there as your translator: to explain the benefits, risks and alternatives of medical interventions suggested by your care provider.

    • Emotional support: even the best partners need a back up when they are tired! I am there as your cheerleader and your rock. Feeling discouraged? I will pump you up! Feel anxious? I will work you through breathing exercises and visualizations to help your mind and body relax. Your partner doesn’t know how best to support you? Don’t worry, I’m there to support them too!

    • Physical support: Having me by your side is like having your own personal masseuse. I’ll touch and massage you when you feel the need, and/or educate your partner how to do it. I will suggest and help you into different positions to ease the pain of contractions.

  • I will visit your family once in the week following your birth. Similarly to our prenatal meetings, I will provide you with 3 levels of support:

    • Information: Eat (burp), sleep, poop, repeat. This is your newborn's life and will also be the source of your questions and concerns. I will be there to help, and to provide references to specialists if necessary.

    • Emotional support: The post-partum period can be a very tumultuous time, which, in between the bursts of love, can trigger some dark feelings. With a little encouragement from your friend and doula you will learn to develop confidence in your new role as a mother.

    • Physical support: I can suggest stretches and gentle exercises to help with aches and the strengthening of your pelvic floor muscles (which is very important to the recovery period).

If you feel the need for more support in the post-partum period you can always hire me to come back!

In this session you will learn exactly what these techniques are, and when is the best time to use them during labor.

With so much preparation for your baby’s arrival, planning for the postpartum period is often overlooked. Research shows that ⅔ of couples will experience a decline in their marital satisfaction within the first year of their child’s life. This doesn’t have to happen to you! A little advanced postpartum planning and a few team building exercises will help you and your partner experience a smoother transition to parenthood. This session is designed for you and your partner, so you may become Stronger, Together.  And when baby does arrive, I will be there to answer all your newborn baby care questions and concerns!

This includes my  Postpartum Sanctuary Workbook,  2 X 60 minute meetings (one before birth, and one after), and unlimited email and text message support for the first two weeks after you give birth.

How a Doula Can Support You

You’re feeling a little overwhelmed. There is SO much information out there on pregnancy, birth and parenting. Where do you begin? You’re not a parent yet, so it’s hard to define what your exact parenting style and philosophy will be, and everyone seems to have a different opinion on the matter, so who should you listen to?

I certainly don’t have ALL the answers (and no one really does) but after navigating the same rocky waters that you are right now I can definitely help you find your path on your Motherhood journey.

As your doula, I will provide you with clear and objective information to help you make sense of any confusion you may be feeling. My professional experience as a neuroscientist and yoga teacher have taught me a deep understanding of the connection between the emotional state of the mind and the physical state of the body.
As a mother of two, I also understand the wide range of emotions that can accompany pregnancy and birth.
My warm, grounded, and authentic nature, you will feel more confident and calm with me by your side.
And when you feel calm, so will your body and baby, allowing her to be born just the
way she was meant to!
